Awareness concept

Basics and self-image

Awareness means being considerate of each other, being availabe for talking in cases of discrimination or when emotional support is needed. We want to be a place, which is as free of discimination as possible. But we are also aware, that we were all raised learning problematic behavoir. We want everyone to feel comfortable in Tümpeltown.

We see Awareness as a Grouptask, because how we treat each other is political and concerns us all. As part of the group it is your responsibility to reflect on your own behavior and to pay attention if others show problematic behavior. This also means to support affected persons and to stand up against discriminating behavior. Please remember that the Interpretive sovereignty and the desicion on how it should be dealt with is always with the person affected.

Awareness-Shifts

Especially during Events there will be Awareness shifts with 1-2 well recognizably marked persons (preferably at least one FLINTA* Person), which will be organized through a shift plan. FLINTA* means females, lesbians, intersex, non binary, trans and agender, which are especially affected by patriachal structures. Beside a general awareness, the Awareness-Persons should especially feel responsible, because they are among other things the Contact Persons for affected People. That means being sober during the shift and mostly staying at or near the ground, to be availabe to talk to. It should be made public that Awareness- Persons are present and mentioned who they currently are.

Building, Skills and Patriarchy

Alcohol and Tabacco

In a smaller group, before the consumption of alcohol or tabacco, all people present should be asked if it is ok for them. In a bigger group the topic should be disscused in a plenary if necessary. If necessary a seperate “Drug Space” will be set up, where consumption is possible, without having to ask every time. We want to keep closed Structures smoke free, so that everyone feels comfortable there. Please use the balconys for smoking and make sure not to leave any cicagrette ends laying around openly. Always be aware, that alcohol consumption can affect your building and social behaviour as well as your climbing skills. Simultaneously there could be people, who have the strong desire to consume, because of their addiction. Please be sensitive and look out for each other. If you have consumed, please ask yourself if you are able to attend a plenary.

Feedback-Box

In the groundstructure “Dachboden” there is a box, where notes about things regarding Awareness, general Feedback, critism, Ideas for Buldingprojects, wishes, etc. can be left. The box is checked before every big weekly Plenary and dealt with accordingly to the content. Please make sure that here are no safety-critical things on the notes.
